This course, applies the attachment-based developmental approach to the arena of discipline. Imposing order on children’s behavioris never particularly easy; imposing order on their minds is even more daunting. When the challenge is to impose order without putting in jeopardy healthy attachment and development, many are at a loss as to how to proceed. Unfortunately, today’s prevailing methods of discipline are completely uninformed regarding their impact on attachment and development. This course not only provides parents and teachers with this knowledge but also equips them with a solid methodology that is not only much more effective but also much less risky than the usual fare.

Making Sense of Discipline not only answers the question of what to do when problems arise but how to do so without sacrificing a child’s emotional health and sense of security for short-term gains in behaviour and performance. The ultimate objective of this course is for parents and teachers to come to the place where the answers will come from their own understanding and they possess the inner confidence to handle the small stuff as well as the more challenging issues.

  1. just so everyone knows, I’m pretty sure you can still register, even though it’s past March 11th, just do it sooner than later if you’re interested.

  2. I just took this course and Pamela’s Making sense of play and they were both fabulous. I would highly recommend it.

  3. Pamela came to speak with our MOMs group a few years ago. She is EXCELLENT! I would love to have her speak with our group again sometime (esp. since many of us are not able to make it to her workshops.) What do you think? 🙂

  4. We *love* the idea (and talked about it this year), but it was a hard one to budget for… I can definitely pass along this suggestion to next year’s committee.
